Why did Lenin hate Stalin?

Stalin saw Leon Trotsky as a threat to his power as the Soviet leader. Trotsky had been a vocal critic of Stalin and Stalin's so-called "communists". Stalin had Trotsky exiled and later assassinated. Even in exile, Trotsky was considered as a major threat by Stalin. Trotsky's ideas were being spread around the world in Marxist circles. Stalin believed he had to liquidate the Marxist Trotsky.

Why was Lenin exiled?

Leon Trotsky posed a threat to Joseph Stalin's hold on the power in Russia after Lenin's death. Many Bolshevik leaders supported Trotsky's philosophy of "permanent revolution" while others supported Stalin's policy of "socialism in one country." Stalin allied himself with Grigory Zinoviev and Lev Kamenev against Trotsky and eventually had enough people loyal to him to expel Trotsky from the Communist Party. Trotsky continued to criticize Stalin and tried to line up support against Stalin. Stalin knew the only way to completely eliminate Trotsky as a rival would be to get him out of the country entirely, so Trotsky was exiled to Turkey.Trotsky was exiled because of his opposition to Stalin. The excuse Stalin gave for the exile of Trotsky was that he did not go to Lenins funeral-but Stalin idid not invite him to the funeral.

Where was Leon Trotsky buried?

Trotsky was in Sukhum recuperating and receiving treatment for an illness. He had been on a train to Sukhum and was in the railway station at Tiflis when he received a telegram from Stalin that Lenin had died. Trotsky telephoned Moscow and was told the funeral would be on the coming Saturday, that he could not make it back in time and that he should remain there taking his treatments. They had lied to Trotsky about the date. The funeral was actually held on Sunday, one day later. Trotsky could easily have made it back to Moscow by then. Stalin deliberately misled Trotsky as to the date of the funeral to make Trotsky look bad in the eyes of the party members.

What were Trotsky's weaknesses?

Trotsky's weaknesses consisted of : - He was sick frequently and so always missing important committee meetings, Stalin exploited this making sure that important decisions were made whilst Trotsky was off getting treatment. - The fact that Trotsky was an ex-Menshevik was very important, the people saw him as a traitor and thought he only joined the Bolsheviks because he saw them as the group that was going to win. Stalin exploited this too. - There was still alot of anti-Jew feelings in Russia, and Trotsky was Jew. - Trotsky failed to take his opposition seriously, not seeing Stalin as a threat until it was too late because he was too arrogant and believed there was no threat. - It could be argued he was gullible. When Stalin told him that Trotsky would not be able to make Lenin's funeral - he believed him not checking with anyone else for confirmation - when infact he could easily have made it. -He was also too self confident which was a reason that led to his downfall. -He was unpopular in the Politburo due to the fact that he was a Jew and an ex-Menshevik.

Why did Leon Trotsky fail to gain power?

He was isolated by Stalin, and basically made a public enemy. Since he had little to no support from the Soviet government, he was easily over-powered.
