Field Hockey is played with wooden sticks and a hard ball. The sticks are used to dribble, pass or shoot the ball down the field to the opposing teams goal line. Goal is worth one point and the team who scores the most goals in the allotted time wins the game. Regulation hockey sticks can be used but it's more fun and a tad safer with good old sticks.
mostley the stuff hockey players wear today except less protective. They also used wooden sticks [of course] and they didn't wear helmets or mouthgards.
Wooden hockey sticks are made from either hardwood or laminate wood. Maple, birch, aspen, ramin or ash are usually the type of wood used. Sometimes, more than one type of wood is used to make a single stick. Heavy sticks are usually made out of hardwoods such as birch or ash. Lighter sticks are normally with a solid low density wooden core made from a light hardwood such as aspen or ramin and reinforced with fiberglass. But wood sticks, unless you are a manufacturer with paid engineers, are almost impossible to gauge what the flex will be. Also most woodens sticks have a fiberglass core or coating. Wood sticks also splinter, fracture, and crack each time they are flexed which will inevitably lead to them breaking. Composite sticks are lighter, more predictable, and will last longer.
The likely term is "popsicle sticks" (wooden sticks used for popsicles and for crafts).
Yes
since you can not play hockey with out at least some sort of a make shift blade attached to a stick, pole,or shaft, they simply made hockey when they made hockey sticks.
Normally, they use composite instead of wood.
A hockey bag is a large canvas type bag that is used to carry hockey equipment. Usually in these bags you may find pads, masks, pucks, sticks, mouth guards, and other equipment.
A odd as it may sound, people used to use just long pieces of wood, like a tree branch. My son says that broomsticks were used as makeshift hockey sticks in the early days.
Composite materials used to make hockey sticks include fiberglass, Kevlar, and carbon fiber. Click on the 'Hockey Stick Materials' link on this page to read more about them. Most popular are graphite carbon fiber sticks
