butterfly is a stroke where your legs do dolphin stroke or mermaid stroke( keeping your legs together and flapping them up and down) and your arms go up into the air together at the same time and then down again bending your arm slightly when under the water. You also are supposed to keep ducking your face under the water every stroke of the arms you make.

Most people think the butterfly stroke is the hardest stroke there is. Due to others' abilities this isn't always true. The butterfly stroke isn't an important stroke, but if you like swimming IM's, it's always a good idea to learn how to do the butterfly.

Hi, I think that I can help. It is all about rythem and timing. Always kick twice, once when you come out the water then again when you enter the water. If you want to learn you can swim at worcester swimming club if you live any where near. I hope I have helped a bit. It is hard to explain, but I think you will get it.

the movement for the stroke is simalar to the way a butterfly moves its wings to move through the air.
