You Need to complete an open water course from your local dice shop. This consists of a classroom portion where you learn safety and other things. A pool portion where you apply these things in a safe environment. And an open water dive section where you are tested on what you were taught. After completing this you will be given a c card this will allow you to buy Scuba equipment air refills and go on dive trips. Also you can only dive 60 ft. Completing a deep sea diving course will give you 130 ft. This is the limit for recreational divers anything deeper and you may pass out or worse from the pressurized nitrogen in your tank

Many dive shops offer a two day program for the classroom and pool sessions, followed by a four dives done over two additional days. So the short answer is that you can become a certified scuba diver in four (sometimes less) days. How many years does it take to become a GOOD scuba diver, I'll leave for someone else to answer. Like anything, a good teacher and plenty of practice can bring you safely to that goal.

Dive training usually involves classroom based training about the theory and also practical sessions in the water to help show you the kit and how it all works and develop your in-water skills.

Theory may include topics such as dive planning, use of dive kit, first aid etc.

Organisations such as BSAC, PADI or SSI will have more detailed curiculum so you could check their websites.

You need to take an Open Water class to get certified. But to be competent and safe, you need to take more classes after that.

Is scuba diving when the tanks are floating on top of the water if not what type of diving is it when the tanks float on top?

Its not really scuba diving but its considered scuba diving. Also known as the hookah system. its when you have a gas powered motor pumping fresh air to the person or person's diving below, there can be up to four people diving off of one hookah system. the benefit of this system is that there is no decompression time and you can be underwater pretty much all day if someone fills the gas tank on the engine pumping air. but you are kinda tied down to something so i don't think its true scuba diving.

Where are good places to go scuba diving?

Characteristically, the majority of recreational scuba diving takes place in tropical waters (which are warm, have good visibility, and lots of brightly coloured marine life to look at) in depths of less than 90 feet of water. Popular destinations for scuba diving holidays include the Caribbean, the Red Sea, Thailand and Australia, although there are many other popular scuba diving destinations in the tropics.Recreational scuba diving also occurs in other environments. Wreck diving is popular in all parts of the world, including the United Kingdom, North Eastern United States and the Great Lakes, where (in each case) the water is cold and visibility is low. Cave diving is also a popular sport, particularly in the US state of Florida. There is even a specialised form of diving known as Ice diving for particularly brave souls. However, these forms of diving are much more dangerous, and usually require much more specialised training and equipment. Some divers also choose to dive deeper than 90 feet, although this considerably increases the risk of decompresion sickness, oxygen toxicity and other dangers of diving. Diving deeper than 130 feet falls within a specialised sphere referred to as "technical diving" which requires considerably greater training and equipment to deal with the risks.

How much to charge on a scuba diving set?

A scuba diving set can be anywhere from 50 to 100 dollars for a set to do a certification dive, but this is for just rental. I saw a scuba set for 1000 or 2000 dollars, but this is to buy the set. this was just a beginners set, however, and they can go for 5000 dollars for a good set.

Is scuba diving safe for someone who had a disc replacement?

Of course the answer is you need to ask a doctor. The big concern I would have is not so much the actual diving, but the weight you are going to have on your back wearing the scuba gear in and out of the water - which will be greater than 50 pounds.

What exactly is scuba diving?

Literally, scuba diving means using diving underwater using Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus.Conventional scuba equipment usually consists of a cylinder of compressed air (worn on the diver's back), and a "regulator" which converts the air from being highly compressed and delivers it to the diver at a breathable pressure.Scuba equipement also technically include rebreathers, which are a much more sophisticated form of diving equipment, whereby the air which the diver breathes is constantly recycled through a carbon dioxide scrubbing system.Scuba diving is now a popular recreational holiday activity, with over 10 million certified scuba divers worldwide.
