Technically the Browns never moved. While Art Modell's team, personnel, and equipment moved to Baltimore and became the Ravens, the Cleveland Browns name, history, and records, by legal agreement with Modell, stayed in Cleveland. The NFL promised Cleveland another Browns franchise, which they received for the 1999 season.
