Maybe because they don't have 90 mph fastballs being thrown at their heads. Batting helmets came into use after a mlb played died in the 1920s after getting hit in the head with a fastball.
In mlb there are warning tracks and padded walls to keep outfielders from running into outfield wall and injuring themselves. Of course that doesn't prevent outfielders from running into each other. Someone has to call "I got it!"
Considering the history of injuries to pitchers getting line drives in the face, I could understand a pitcher wearing a helmet because they are so close to the batter.
The problem is most defensive players won't want to wear a helmet unless required by the rules. The only defensive players required to wear a face mask are catchers. Home plate umpires also wear face masks.
The objection from my daughter to wearing a helmet or mask while pitching softball is that no other pitchers wear them, she doesn't want to look silly, its uncomfortable, and 9 year old girls don't hit the ball hard enough to scare her yet.

∙ 9y agoBatters use helmets for protection against misdirected or wildly thrown pitched balls. Being "beaned" by a ball can result in serious head injury.
Catchers wear a protective mask and body shield to protect against pitched balls that go where they are not supposed to go and to protect against misplaced bat positioning.

∙ 14y agoThe reason why Major League Baseball players touch their helmets is because they use a substance called Pine tar, it's a sticky substance that looks kind of like mud in a way. Players stick it to their helmets so that when they go up to bat they have some to grab to put on their batting gloves because Pine tar is designed to help keep a better grip on a bat.

No, same goes for catchers gloves, only a first baseman can use a trapper and only a catcher can use a catchers glove
The first baseman's glove is longer with a deeper pocket and generally not as wide as other infielder's gloves to help them catch balls thrown from the infielders. The majority of plays the second baseman, third baseman, and shortstop make are on ground balls and popups. The majority of playsthe first baseman makes are on throws from another infielder. Thelongerglove gives the first baseman an extra few inches to be able to catch the ball and the shorter width and deeper pocket is for a better grip of the ball once it is caught.
its used for the runner to step on at first so that they dont get in the first basemans way
Carlos Pena uses a first baseman's glove.
AnswerBy the rules of MLB, you can use a catchers mitt or even no glove at all in the outfield. The reason they don't use a first baseman's glove is that they don't need to. A first baseman's glove is bigger so that a less than perfect throw, or a liner in foul territory has a better chance of being caught. Outfeilders move to the ball, so they don't need a bigger glove. A first baseman's glove has a flat side, therefore as the outfielder is moving it would be harder for him to catch the ball; also, a first baseman's mitt is heavier than an outfielder's glove.
To use it to scoop balls and catch high throws.
It all depends on the kind of glove. First base gloves are much bigger than a fielder's glove. Most fielders use a 12" or 13".

The praising glove will reward your person. When they're doing something you want them to do more just use the praising glove. The scolding glove does the exact opposite.
Vintage Baseball Glove Cleaning & ConditioningBefore "Preserving" or conditioning your glove it would be a good idea to clean it first. Even if you feel the glove is not dirty, removing any minor surface dirt will prepare the leather to fully absorb what ever conditioning you use.
