The basic skills are bumps, sets and hits (spikes). A bump is when you have your arms flat ready to gently pass the ball, usually the first hit. A set is an overhead pass, usually the transition from the first hit to the third. The last skill is a hit. That's the powerful-in-the-air-smack-down-onto-the-ground ball. It is most usually seen as the third hit. Hope that helps :)
