There are two leagues:American and National. American League has 14 teams and the National League has 16. They both have three divisions of 4-6 teams:East, Central, and West. Here are the teams in each division:

AL East- New York Yankees(NYY), Boston Red Sox(BOS), Tampa Bay Rays(TB), Toronto Blue Jays(TOR), Baltimore Orioles(BAL)

AL Central-Minnesota Twins9MIN), Chicago White Sox(CHW), Detriot Tigers(DET), Kansas City Royals(KC), Cleveland Indians(CLE)

AL West-Texas Rangers(TEX), Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim(LAA), Oakland Athletics(OAK), Seattle Mariners(SEA)

NL East-Philadelphia Phillies(PHI), New York Mets(NYM), Atlanta Braves(ATL), Washington Nationals(WAS), Florida Marlins(FLA)

NL Central-St. Louis Cardinals(STL), Cincinnati Reds(CIN), Chicago Cubs(CHC), Milwaukee Brewers(MIL), Houston Astros(HOU), Pittsburgh Pirates(PIT)

NL West-Los Angeles Dodgers(LAD), San Francisco Giants(SF), Colorado Rockies(COL), San Diego Padres(SD), Arizona Diamondbacks(ARI)

The major difference of the two leagues is in the National League, the pitcher whoever is in must bat, but in the American League they have a hitter who takes the pitchers spot in the lineup and is known as the Designated Hitter. The thing to know about it is the Designated Hitter(DH) does not play the field and stays in the dugout and he only bats. Hopefully this all helps you out.
