Cheerleading is not needed, neither is football or any other sport. People do sports for pleasure and entertainment.

Cheerleading can help your health by making you fit. Most people do not realize it but, cheerleading is a lot harder than it looks. There is a lot of physical ability that is needed to be able to cheer.
It doesn't matter how much you weigh. It depends on if you have good balance and if you have strong enough bases. I know because I am a cheerleader and I have been a back spot base front spot and a flyer for cheerleading. You just need teamwork and strong cheerleaders!:)

You need to be extremely flexible, and able to perform positions such as the heel stretch, scorpion, scale, arabesque, and bow and arrow. You need to be comfortable being up high and have very good balance, and stregnth. To get that needed stregnth, squats are suggested.
