While the Cleveland Browns have not appeared in a Superbowl as of 2011 it is important to not that they have won many league championships and hold many NFL records and boast 21 Hall of Fame Players(16 of which gained that distinction primarily in a Browns uniform). It is also noteworthy to mention that the Browns have one of the largest, and most loyal fan bases (Dawg Pound, Browns Backers) of any major sports team and that their 2010-2011 running-back Peyton Hillis has been selected to appear on the cover of Madden 2012.

I just quoted this paragraph below from the wikipedia site.

The Browns have won a total of eight league championships. They won all four AAFC titles (including a 15-0 undefeated season in 1948), and after joining the NFL won four additional championships prior to the league's AFL–NFL_merger with the American_Football_League(AFL) in 1970. Following the merger, the Browns were one of three NFL teams which joined the ten former AFL teams to form the new American Football Conference. Despite having the sixth-highest winning percentage of all NFL franchises,Special:Wysiwygthe Browns have not played in a league championship game since the merger; however, they have competed for the AFC Championship three times. Having lost all three games, along with two NFL Championship Games of the Super_Bowlera prior to the merger (in 1968 and 1969), Cleveland is one of four NFL teams that has yet to reach the Super Bowl. Furthermore, Cleveland has never hosted a Super Bowl, making it the only NFL city to have neither hosted nor sent a team to the Super Bowl.Special:Wysiwyg

Three (1950, 1954, 1955). The Browns were in the All American Football Conference between 1946-1949. They won the championship all four of those seasons. They entered the NFL in 1950. The Browns were also in the NFL championship game and lost in 1951, 1952, 1953, and 1956. So, for an 11 season period they were in a championship game each season.
