I am 13 and 5'5". I weigh 100 pounds. I have a long torso and short legs...do you think any Ballet company would take me for their summer intensives? I am just worried about not having the perfect dance body (short torso, long legs). I have just the opposite :/
its something that evvolves ballet i know the answers but i dont wanna tell u
Ballet was not originated from a sport, but more of the dances the jesters did in the kingdom. Dancers usually dont show the whole back of their body because the kings would watch from the front and it was disrespectful and vulgar to show the backside.
Ballet dancers dont have to be thin. However in order to gain the flexibility and physical strength for ballet, you do have to be very fit.

A 'perfect' first position would be 180.

You dont need much muscle for ballet

You can but I wouldn't wear it to ballet class after you swim in it.
The good thing about ballet is, that everyone can do it! But the perfect body for a ballerina, is slim, and tall, but not too tall, with a long neck and good posture. The dancer's feet shouldn't be too big either, so that her feet aren't clumpy in the pointe shoes and making noise.

i dont know the answer. Haha :P ..
Ballet is great exercise simply because it tones up all of your body. You use all of your muscles in Ballet.
It depends on who you are talking to. Some people do consider it a sport and some dont.
