It's not as much of one being better as of being different from each other. And which is "better for you" pretty much depends on what you want to achieve.
If you're on the heavy side swimming will let you get some exercise w/o having to suffer the huge shock loads running would put on your knees, ankles and hips. Swimming (as long as it's in a pool) is also probably safer, as it takes place in a more controlled environment.
Running OTOH is definitely easier when it comes to opportunity. All you need is a pair of shoes, some shorts, acces to some open ground and you're all set .
Pools of the size where you can get some useful swimming in is a bit rarer.
COMPETETIVE Swimming is definetely a harder sport than football. It requires more comittment and you laps up and down the pool. In foot ball practice you are standing on the sidelines watching OTHER people play. In swimming you use all of your muscles and it makes you healthier and fitter. In conclusion, swimming is obviously a harder sport:)
AGREE: but, football you get hit by 200+ lbs guys......so, only part is harder is that its a PHYSICAL SPORT.
Well it depends on what you prefer in a sport. I am a swimmer and my sisters best friend is a gymnast. I could say I have a lot more upper body strength and cardio endurance. She has more lower body strength although I have a lot too she has more and she is more flexable than me although swimmers are known to be very flexible I'm not because I have a lot of muscle. If you want a sport to let off steam and anger choose swimming but I would admit gymnastics you can express yourself better. If your looking to loose weight swimming is better. Both sports have a very good variety and you will never get bored. A really good benefit of swimming is that in an hour of awimming you can lose 500 calories and I eat junk food a lot and I swim 4 nights a week for an hour an a half and I only weigh 90 lb. And I'm 5"4'
As a matter of fact, swimming may be better than running because it has less impact on joints and more of the body is used for swimming than running.
It depends on what you do. Swiming works more muscle groups than running which makes it a better all around exercise. Swimming is also low impact which is better for your joints than running.
The differences in propulsion and energy expenditure between swimming and running contribute to the gap in world record times for the 100m distance. Swimming involves more drag, resistance, and limited ability to generate speed compared to running on land. Additionally, the human body is more naturally adapted for running rather than swimming, resulting in faster sprinting times on land.
Yes, swimming is better for body than dancing as swimming allowing exercising and practicing more body muscles than dancing.
Yes walking is better for you than running
hockey is way better than suimming
It is better than running on pavement for your joints and knees.
swiming is in the water and walking is on land
it depends on how you define strenuous. swimming is much better for your joints, as well, swimming probably uses more musles than running, as it is a whole body exercise. when swimming, you are forced to hold your breath, which exercises yor lungs and therefore the rest of your body much more than if you were running. there is also much more resistance when swimming (because of the water) making if much harder to swim a distance (ie.400m) than it would be to run it. (the world record time for 400m freestyle is 3:40.7, whereas, in track, it's 00:43.19 so obviosly, its alot more difficult to swim.)
Swimming Zones is far more impressive than swimming stars but stars is good training
If you want a more thourough workout, then soccer, because you are burning more calories and gaining more leg muscles than in swimming because of the running. But if you want a workout for your arms rather than your legs, than swimming would be better.
No. Swimming is like running and walking, it is universal.
