I coach Rugby League and some of the heavy lads struggled to do 3 or 4 press ups but they can perform light bench presses with a bar or dumbells and their press ups have also improved. Weight training when properly supervised is very good for kids.Any amount you can do with out struggling and straining your muscles do less reps.It would depend on how old the 'kid' is. Surely, a parent would not want their child benchpressing. Most 5' 12 year old's should be able to bench a little less then there body weight. There muscles and form would be highly underdeveloped. This is also only true if the child is of healthy weight.
In 2001 Kane (Glen Jacobs) bench pressed some over 800lbs... (838)lbs But his usual lift was about 600-700lbs... In 2003 he tore his biceps and could not lift nearly as much... In 2010 he lifted about 400-450lbs.
they say you should be able to bench your own weight but if you have been training for awhile your muscles will let you bench a lot more than your weight.

When I was 14 I could bench 45lb which was just the bar. Now when I could do that i never lifted weights before so I was not big.
125% your weight for example if you are 195 pounds 244 pounds is a good number.
For you, maybe 30 at the most if your really lucky.Don't listen to other people because they say im 12 and can bench 120, there lying, its easy to do. THey can't even bench 20 for that matter.

A person should be able to bench their own weight. If the 14 year old is 200lbs of solid muscle, he probably wouldn't have a problem lifting it.
i think that he should start off with 100 lbs but in the end, he should be able to bench 200. some where near his weight.
