This first century, achieved in the second One Day International between England and Australia at Manchester's Old Trafford ground took place on August 24, 1972. His innings totalled 103 runs in 134 balls, an innings which included 9 fours. Amiss played first-class cricket for Warwickshire for 28 seasons.
