Cito Gaston of the Toronto Blue Jays was the first (and so far only) African-American manager to win a World Series. He won back-to-back world championships with Toronto in 1992 and 1993.

Dusty Baker of the San Francisco Giants came within five outs of becoming the second in Game 6 of the 2002 World Series. But the California Angels rebounded and won the final two games of the fall classic.

Ron Washington guided the Texas Rangers when they made consecutive appearances in the World Series in 2010 and 2011.
