this was my freshman year of highschool and my fastest mile was a 4:55 wich beat the distance senior runner the average i saw was like a 5:20s and 30s but im a better 2 miler so who knows i think it changes in every area
If you consider yourself "in-shape," then 6 minutes is probably a respectable mile time. For someone who doesn't run track as a sport, then a spectacular time would be somewhere around 5:30.

That's an extremely general question with no definite answer, but I personally have run a mile in 6:02 two years in a row without much training. I would be age 18 and 19 at that time. I know back when I was training for a mile race that I never ended up running when I was 15 I was getting times around 5:40 or so.
However, a lot of factors would contribute to how fast you can run at 16:
* Are you fully grown? * Are you male or female? * What is your body build?
Just FYI...the world record mile is 3:43.13 set back in 1999 I been traning and i got 6:23 at 12
When I was 16 I ran a 4.54 mile for the webb city high track team I dont know if anyone my age has ran it faster.
A good mile time could be anywhere from 5 to 7 minutes, depending on your level of physical fitness.
