It's ME! Well for GKR Karate anyway. My name is Erica I'm-not-putting-my-last-name-down-for-sercurity-reasons. And I am WA, GKR's youngest black belt. I am 10 years old and live in Perth (Warnbro area). I train 3-5 days a week in hour long sweat sessions. You may think it's too much but when you enjoy it like me, it's nowhere near satisfactory. I just wanna make this short, but thanks for giving me a reason to boast! Bye!

There is more than one person who created the original karate. It evolved over centuries. Now there have been more different styles of karate made by different people. Here are some of the key teachers: -Sakukawa Kanga -Matsumura Sokon -Itosu Anko -Arakaki Seisho -Higaonna Kanryo -Gichin Funakoshi -Motobu Choki Karate was originally called To De (Chinese hand) and was developed by several masters in the course of time. No specific person invented it but it was invented for self defense.
It depends on the club. For example, in GKR International Karate Club, the order is white (10th kyu), yellow tip (9th kyu), yellow (8th kyu), orange (7th kyu), green (6th kyu) , blue (5th kyu), red (4th kyu), brown (3rd kyu), two black tips (2nd and 1st kyu), black (1st, 2nd, 3rd dan). However, in every club, the first belt is white and the last two are brown and black. It is not the belt which counts, its the grade.
You get your white belt when you first start (No grading session required)Then instructor awards you yellow tip (Again no grading session required)Then yellow (Grading session required)Then orange tip (No grading session required)Then orange (Grading required)Then green ( Grading required )Then blue ( Grading required )Then red (Grading required )Then brown (Grading required)Then black tip (Grading required)A second black tip (Grading required )Then black (Grading required)
Karate originated on the island of Okinawa, also called the Ryu Kyu Islands. Originally independant, Okinawans developed karate in response to Japanese invasions which enforced Okinawans turning in any and all weapons. Weaponless (empty hand) defense was the result. Kara = empty, te = hand
