Christy Mathewson signatures are rare and highly sought after. On average a Christy Mathewson signature is worth about $8,000.-$12,000. Not too many signed baseballs found, and most of the auction I viewed were for signed books selling as high as $26,000. in a recent auction (2008) a Bank check, dated October 13, 1924, canceled, and signed by Christy Mathewson sold for $17,625.00

The value on a signed document will vary on the importance or historic value of the document, and how much writing was done by Christy Mathewson besides his signature. I found two auctions with signed documents listed below.

A signed Christy Mathewson document relating to his service in the armed forces during World War one sold for $4,312.50

A Pennsylvania R.R. Co. stock certificate completely filled out my Mathewson sold for $8,365.00

Signatures that have not been authenticated could sell at half the market value or less.

A Christy Mathewson single signed Baseball is worth about $10,000.-$20,000.

Value is based on average prices of recently closed auctions. Prices may vary based on condition, and the type of authenticity that accompanies the signature. Signatures that have not been properly authenticated could sell at half the market value or less. Add for inscriptions. Because of their rarity it is difficult to give an accurate value on a Christy Mathewson single signed baseball. Most items found at auction are signed books, and documents, with an average price of about $8,000. - $12,000. and selling at a high of $26,000. In a auction held in 2004 a Christy Mathewson single signed baseball sold for $10,925.00 For more prices on single signed baseball see Related Links below.

How much is a Christy Mathewson Baseball Card?

First let me start off by saying anything signed by the Hall of Famer Christy Mathewson is rare and very valuable. For example Signed baseballs by Mathewson in very poor condition with very faded signature still sell for and valued at $40,000+ all the way up to $160,000! Mathewson signed items are some of the rarest and most valueable in the hobby. It all depends on the condition of the signed card, piece of paper, check or photo's Mathewson signed but main factor in determining value is the boldness of Mathewson's signature. Especially if the "Your's Truly" is also added by Mathewson as that adds value opposed to him only signing his name and thats it. With that being said the value of a card, piece of paper, check, or photo autographed by Christy Mathewson with the "Your's Truly" is $17,000 for ones with very faded but still visable signature and $25,000-$40,000 for ones with rather bold signature. Without the "Your's Truly" added the value is $8,000-$12,000. Hope This Helps. Tom-Appraiser of high end collectables, art and sports memorabilia.

What is the value of the Christy Mathewson Big Six indoor baseball game you believe is an actual signature by him on the back of the cover?

The Christy Mathewson's "Big Six" Indoor Baseball game is worth about $750. - $1,2500. in excellent - near/mint condition. Christy Mathewson signatures are rare and highly sought after. On average a Christy Mathewson signature can sell between $8,000.-$12,000. Not too many signed baseballs found, and most of the auction I viewed were for signed books selling as high as $26,000. A cut signature could sell in the $2,000. -$3,000. range. Because the signature is on the back it would be valued as a cut signature. If it were on the cover, it would make a better display, and raise the value. The condition, and the type of authenticity that accompanies the signature will be a factor on value. If the signature is not properly authenticated it could sell at half the market value or less. The signature, and the game have a higher value if sold separately. Problem is, the signature is on the back of the cover and cannot be displayed at the same time. This will lower the value of the signature, or the game significantly. As it is the game with the signature on the back of the cover, it might sell slightly higher than the unsigned game or the value of the signature, and not the full value of the game, and the signature added together. I'm not familiar with the back of the cover. It is possible that the signature is a facsimile, and is part of the printing on the game.

Why the difference is price for signed vs autographed sports memorabilia?

Signed autographThere is no difference between signed memorabilia and autographed memorabilia. It is just deference in terminology. A signed baseball is the same as an autographed baseball and the same value. An autograph is signed. You could sign a check or a document but the signature would not be considered an autograph. You sign a baseball or a photo and the signature is an autograph.

What is the value of a 1936 autographed Hall of Fame baseball signed by Babe Ruth Honus Wagner Walter Johnson Christy Mathewson and Ty Cobb slightly damaged?

You have a baseball with the original five ballplayers to be inducted into the baseball Hall of Fame. In 1936 the first five men elected to the hall of fame were Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Honus Wagner, Christy Mathewson and Walter Johnson. I would estimate the value of this baseball at about $20,000. or more in good - excellent overall condition. value is based on recently closed auctions of similar items. Value will vary based on the condition, and the type of authenticity that accompanies the signatures. Signatures that have not been properly authenticated could sell at half the market value or less. I don't know the severity of the damage on the baseball. The value will be effected by the display of the baseball, how well the baseball displays the signatures, with the condition of the signatures being most important. In a similar auction a news photograph (8" x 10"), taken at the dedication of the Baseball Hall of Fame on June 12, 1939 was signed by ten of the eleven then-living inductees present that day. Babe Ruth, Cy Young, Honus Wagner, Walter Johnson, George Sisler, Nap Lajoie, Tris Speaker, Grover Alexander, Eddie Collins, and Connie Mack. There are only a few known examples of this signed photo. One, coming from the Barry Halper collection, sold for $63,000. in 1999. Another signed photo sold at Robert Edwards Auctions for $23,500.00. August 2007. The difference in price could reflect the condition of the signatures, and the fact that the more expensive photo came from the famed Barry Halper collection. Barry Halper was the owner of what has been considered the world's greatest baseball memorabilia collection.

What is the value of a Roberto clemente baseball that is NOT a single signed ball?

If the baseball is "multi-signed", and not "single signed" you would have to name the other players that signed the baseball to get an approximate value.

What is the value of a baseball signed in the sixties?

The age of when the ball was signed does not determine the value. Supply and demand does. The value of the signature will rely on the popularity of the player that signed the ball, and how often he signed. If there are more collectors than signatures on the market the value will be high. If there are many signatures on the market and a lower number of collectors, a lower value.
