I tried to find this out and didn't get much about the person who patented the football. I did find that Walter Camp a coach at Yale is the first person to take a soccer ball and play it like a football. This was in 1879. Much of the game of football owes rules and plays to Camp.
depends what football you're referring to: soccer or American football? depends what football you're referring to: soccer or American football?
The first football was made out of pigskin
American football was first known as association football. The world knows soccer by the name "football," rather than American football.

The first American football game filmed was between the University of Michigan and the University of Chicago in 1904. Click on the 'First Filmed American Football Game' link on this page to read about the game.
"if you are talking about AFL football then Afl is older then soccer The first game if soccer was played in 1872, November 30th The first game of football was played in 1858, August 7th" WRONG. The dates are right, officially, but the actual game of Association Football (Soccer) is far older, the OFFICIAL rules were made during this period; and although the first official game of American Football was played "first", American Football is actually a VARIATION of Association Football AND Rugby Football. So how can it be OLDER if it's based on Association Football? Foolish child.

By football I am assuming American football. It is a rubber bladder with leather sewn around it and then inflated.
