Every track surface has its own optimum spike length. Current all weather tracks (rubberized) are built for best results with short (1/4" or 8mm} spikes and will not allow athletes to use longer spikes that will damage the expensive rubber surface. On wooden tracks a shorter spike might be advisable (so it doesn't get stuck in the wood, slowing the athlete). On a dirt track, much longer spikes will work better though it still depends on the kind of dirt surface. A clay surface might still suggest a shorter spike than a more granulated or rocky kind of surface.

I do long jump, triple jump, and 100m and they work great. But it depends what you consider short distance. work for everything 400m and under. it has no padding on the heel so jumping with sprinting spikes can cause injury.

What triple jump shoe is better or more prefered the nike zoom tj 3 or the Adidas adizero tj 2?
Adidas adizero TJ 2.0. They feel much more stable and cushioned than the nike ones. The nike TJ spikes are very similar to their long jump spikes, for me the spike plate is far too long which makes the landings too hard and unstable. I would be worried for me ankles in the nike ones.
