I just put like"E5" in the corner of the box. You can also put in an asterisk and explain it in the bottom of the page. I do this when a runner advances on a throw. You have to record it somewhere if you are keeping up with fielding pct.

∙ 12y agoIve played this sport for 4 years and this has only happend to me once and i was so confused because i didn't know why so i asked my coach and he said its because if you hit the ball and the other team catches it your out even if its a foul

If the batter/runner is contacted by a fair ball when they are out of the box they are out and the ball is dead thus no runners can advance. Given this the answer to you question is no they can not score.

It is an error, charged to the catcher as a passed ball, however, it does not show up in the stats as an error.

It depends on how bad the pitcher boots the ball. An error is recorded when an out is not made within reasonable effort or talent.

That decisionis left up to the person who is the 'official scorer' for the game. If the batter turns and shows bunt before the pitcher throws he usually is credited with a sacrifice whether an error is committed or not. But if the official scorer thinks that the batter was trying for a base hit and not for a sacrifice he may score it solely as an error.

The only other way I can think of that a runner would score from a fly-out without tagging up would be when the fielder catches the fly ball and then throws it into the infield and the infielder doesn't catch the ball properly, allowing the runner to advance home on an error.

Can you earn an RBI on a pass ball?
No, it is not an RBI. a passed ball is basically an error on the catcher and you don't credit RBI's when error's occur. This answer is basicly true in regards to the passed ball, however , a batter can be credited with an RBI on an error, if, in the official scorers judgment the runner or runners would have scored anyway had the error not occured. For example: Runner on third, less than two outs, batter hits ground ball to an infielder who was playing back..infielder commits an error fielding the ball, or throws it wild to first..in the scorers opinion had the infielder fielded the ball cleanly, or not thrown wild to first, the run would have scored anyway. The batter is credited with an RBI.
