Gary Moeller was apparently fired for a fight in a restaurant in the 1990s.
The current coach of the University of Michigan football team is Brady Hoke, who took the position in 2011 after the University fired Rich Rodriguez.
I don't know that he was a gambler but Mike Price was fired in 2003 after a night of partying at a strip club. He was hired after the 2002 season and didn't coach a game for Alabama.

It seems like Les Miles is the most likely candidate. However, there is no guarantee he would leave LSU especially if they win the BCS National Championship game which would effectively make him among the highest paid coaches in the country along with Nick Saban, Bob Stoops and Charlie Weis. Other candidates are likely to be Kirk Ferentz of Iowa, Brian Kelly of Cincinnati and - this one is a stretch - Urban Meyer. My vote...none of the above. Well, I would like to see Miles come home but I think one of the best candidates would be Rich Rodriguez of West Virginia. He's built an amazing program at WV and Michigan has gone to the Mountaineers well before snatching up WVU's men's basketball coach, John Beileine for their vacant head coaching job last year.
Weis/Notre Dame
They were apperently going to go on strike against the coach/team.

Yes, the University of Michigan relieved Rich Rodriguez of his coaching duties on January 5, 2011.
Steve Spurrier. Washington posted a 12-20 record in those two years and Spurrier was fired. He later went on to coach the University of South Carolina football team, where he has been coaching since 2005.

New Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wanted to bring in the University of Miami's Jimmy Johnson as his head coach.
