Runner on second and batter hits grounder to short and throws out runner at third is batter credited with a hit?

No hit it is a fielders choice

If a ground ball to the infield scores a runner when they throw to first to get the batter is it a sac for the batter?

This depends on the situation. If the fielder threw to get the runner out and the batter reached 1st due to this, then it would be considered a sacrafice by ruling it a Fielders Choice, and no hit or error would be charged. If the batter bunted and had good placement and was able to reach 1st due to a good bunt and beating the throw, then it would be considered a hit

Is it a fielders choice with one out and runner on third and batter grounds out to first with runner on third scoring?

Anytime the batter is put out at 1st base on a batted ball it is not considered a fielders choice, it is simply a put out. Now in your scenario if the catcher would have thrown home and the runner coming from 3rd is out and the batter is safe at 1st, then in that case it would be a fielders choice

Does a fielders choice count as an at bat?

Yes. If in the Official Scorer's opinion, the batter would have been out at first base had the fielder chosen to make that play then the play is scored as a fielder's choice. The batter reaches first base safely, but is not credited with a hit and is charged with an at-bat. He's officially 0 for 1 on that play.

Does a fielders choice that bats in a run count as a sacrifice?

This is not a sacrifice. It is counted as an RBI though unless there is a double play as result of the FC.

How many ways can a batter be credited with an RBI?

A batter can get a hit.A batter can walk.A batter can get hit by a pitch.A batter can run out a drop third strike and make it safely.A batter can reach first base on an error.A batter can reach first base because of a fielder's choice to make a play elsewhere.

Is it a hit if the runner running to 3rd base gets tagged out but there is no force?

No. This would be a fielders choice and would not count as a hit for the batter.

Does a fielder's choice count as an out?

I AM A COLLEGE BASEBALL PLAYER ALL INFORMATION HERE IS 100% TRUE. A fielders choice does not count as a hit for the batter even though the batter reaches base safely. It counts as an out for the hitters batting average but RBI's, runs scored, stolen bases and any other effects of the batter reaching base safely count. In essence a fielders choice counts as an out because the fielder could have chose to get the batter out or another runner which means there was an out on the play. Also, you cannot assume a double play even if the ball hit was the easiest 4-6-3 which the fielders made an error on.

How do you score a sacrifice bunt on the score sheet?

A "sac".Corrected answer:This depends on the outcome of the at bat:***if the bunt successfully advances another baserunner to the next base and the batter is out at 1st then it is a "Sac Bunt" -- no official at-bat***if the bunt does not successfully advance the other baserunners then you score it as an out using the fielding numbers to idicate who is credited with the put out -- this is a fielders choice, the at-bat would count, no hit given***if nobody is on base and you reach successfully to first base then you are credited with a single

Runner on second and 3rd and hit ball to second base and runners move up scoring a run is this a sacrifice or a fielders choice?

If the runner was thrown out at first then it is a sacrifice. Fielders choice is when you couldve easily been thrown out at first but the baseman throws it to a different base to try to get someone else out.CorrectionThis would be neither, the 1st part of the answer above is incorrect, the later part is correct. It really depends on how the play unfolds. If you hit it to 2nd basemen and you are thrown out at first, then it is just scored a 4-3 groundout -- if the player fields the ball at 2nd and throws the ball anywhere other then 1st to get the batter out, then it would be a "Fielders Choice" -- there is no instance in which this would be a sacrifice if you swing the bat and the ball goes to the 2nd basemen (if this was a bunt fielded by the 2nd basemen... it would be a sacrifice) -------tigersy2k3

What is the scoring if you cannot assume an IF could get the batter but the runner makes a delayed attempt to advance on a bobbled ball and gets thrown out or caught in a rundown?
