No. Fast-pitch is were they have the big softballs. In slow pitch, they have little ones. But they are both bigger than Baseballs! The BIG balls that you see in collage softball are started being used in 12 and under. (Which is 11 and 12 year olds) 8, 9, 10 year olds use the middle sized ball. 5, 6, 7 year old us the little balls. The liitle balls are a little bigger than baseballs.

How do you hit in slow pitch softball?

Technically you just do the same thing you do in fast pitch except you must be patient and not try to slam the ball. you keep your eye on the ball and when it gets about the right height then you hit it and run. it's easier to place the ball when you hit a slow pitch ball.

Is softball pitching faster than baseball?

its pretty much the same except that the ball is comming at you 10xs faster and you REALLY have to watch the ball It's pretty self-explanatory. In fast-pitch, the ball comes at you faster. In slow-pitch, the ball is coming at you slower.

What is a change up pitch in softball?

'Change up' is another name for a 'slow ball'. Where a fast ball may be thrown around 90 or so MPH, a change up would be thrown in the 75-80 MPH range. It is thrown with the same motion as a fast ball and is used to fool the batter into swinging early at the pitch.

How is baseball different from softball?

What is the difference between softball and baseball scoring?

There is a main difference between softball and baseball. First... obvious softball is played with a bigger ball. SEcond, is that the pitcher pitches underhand in softball and over hand in baseball. Many people or at least guys believe that baseball is better than softball, its more traditional and has been around longer. WEll i tell you what, softball is just as hard if not harder than "baseball". Softball goes alot quicker too. Ok, let me refraise my self, fast-pitch softball is at least as hard if harder. However, slo-pitch softball is not hard ot play while it does require skill, it does not require fast hand eye coordination when hitting the ball. Someone who goes from hitting the ball at 60 mph+ some to hitting the ball at 20 mph or less will prob miss the ball 8 out of 10 times for swinging too fast. Thus concluding that there are major yet minor differneces between softball and baseball, and which one is better is up to you... just depends on basically what sex you are, or what you basic opinion of the matter is. I am not trying ot be sexist, just statin the facts. ====================== The pitching for softball is always under hand. In baseball, the pitching is over hand. There is a fast pitch and a slow pitch in softball.

What are the infielders position for softball?

Fast pitch softball switch hitting in the same at bat?

You can move to the other side of the plate during an at bat IF you ask for time out from the umpire AND time out is granted.

Why does a softball sting when the pitcher pitches the ball to the catcher?

The velocity of the softball that is pitched is fast enough to hit the catchers glove with a lot of force so it causes the catcher's hand to sting or hurt

Are the ways you hold a softball to pitch the same as holding a baseball to pitch?

no the softball is much bigger and different. you use your index, middle, ring, and pinky(for support) and your thumb to pitch. softball and baseball has the nsame pitches, but different ways to do it. trust me I'm a softball player :) and a pitcher:) and a hitting slugger:)

What is the difference between slow pitch softball and regular softball?

Slowpitch Softball is played using a high-arc pitching technique where the ball slowly falls into the strike-zone. Slowpitch speeds range from 25mph-35mph. Fastpitch Softball a windmill pitching technique is used that increases that speed of the pitch significantly and allows the pitcher to throw different kinds of pitches like drop, rise, curve, screw, and change. Fastpitch speed range from usually 50mph-65mph. The rules are basically the same, minus some variations in batting. In slow pitch if you foul off the third strike you are out. In fastpitch the strike is not called until you swing with no contact with the ball. Both require different equipment. EX:A fastpitch bat is different from a slowpitch bat. Slow Pitch...the coach pitches it and fast pitch....one of the teammates pitches it! :)

What is the slowest ball thrown in Softball?

The slowest softball pitch is the change-up. It is used to trick the batter into swinging early. When pitchers have a good change up it can be used quite often with the same effect each time. Pitches can also be thrown off-speed, like an off-speed curve ball.
