How long should cross country spikes last?

They won't last to long if you do a lot of meets. In fact, spikes aren't the best for cross-country. But they are optional in any type of running, and they do make spikes specifically for cross-country. But if you do a lot of meets like I do, they won't last very long. I've never used spikes, they mess you up they're more for track than cross-country. In fact I've worn them once and they messed up my running because they're meant for hard ground. Can you race in track shoes without the spikes?

Yes you can run in track shoes without the spikes but, I think that you should have spikes at the bottom of your track shoes because if you have the spikes then you can run faster than you would without them. Track and Field athletes that run during the indoor season run with studs, also known as blanks, in their shoes so as to not ruin the shoe or the track. They still choose to wear their spike shoes do to the lightweight nature of the shoe and the fact that they are accustomed to running in them. However, it is not recommended to wear stud/blanks on outdoor tracks.
