Cross-country skiing is generally easy to learn and easy on the environment.

There are few rules but here are some:

Organized races are divided into classical, and freestyle. Classical means you ski in the traditional way, moving your skis back and forth, and push with the poles. Freestyle means you are allowed to use a skating technique with your skis.

1. No shoving or pushing other athletes.

2. No verbal contact or swearing.

3. Get in there and show the rest of 'em how its done!

No snowfall, no wind, a few degrees below freezing, and well-prepared ski tracks.

I would say -3c to -5c is the best temperature for skiing.
