Basic Scuba EquipmentYes, while most every piece of equipment is rentable. I would only invest in your own mask, fins, and snorkle to begin with. Wait and make sure that you are really into the sport before dropping the several thousand dollars on the BCD, Regs, Tanks, and such. It's kind of a waste if you find out that you don't do it enough, or just aren't interested in doing it again. The dealer will give you a great deal if you purchase all the gear at once, don't be fooled, wait it out. Get certified, and go from there. AnswerWell, you can rent virtually every piece of equipment you'd need, but the essentials are a mask & snorkel, fins, wet siut (optional for some climates but recommended), a tank, bouancy compensator (BC or dive vest), regulator & hoses and a dive belt with weights. You can also use gloves, a flashlight and other accessories. At the bare minimum though, you'd need the tank and hoses, BC, weight belt, mask and fins.

This is a simple list and there is other equipment that can also be used.

Required:

Mask, fins, cylinder/tank, regulator (what you breath from) with an SPG (submersible pressure gauge ... so you know how much air/gas is left to breath) and with an alternate air source (an extra hose for your dive buddy in case it is needed), depth gauge, timer such as a watch if it is not part of your depth gauge, BCD (Buoyancy Compensator Device) which is the jacket you wear that you can inflate and deflate, a back plate (which holds the cylinder and which is often part of the BCD)

Optional (depending on type of dive and conditions):

wet suit or dry suit with boots, gloves and hood, weight belt with weights, knife or cutting tool, dive computer (or dive planning software), and a snorkel
You could go on forever on this but here are a few: Mask, fins, snorkel, tanks, wet/dry suit, knife, buoyancy control device, weights, dive computer and regulator.

Mask, fins, snorkel, Scuba tanks, Buoyancy Control Device and weights. It's also nice to have a wetsuit and dive computer.

There are many available options for deep sea diving scuba equipment. You will need a breathing apparatus, diving suit, gloves, boots, a safety helmet, a depth gauge, compass and depending on your depth, a cage for protection against predators. I would contact a sports shop specializing in scuba gear for a complete list.
