A game of Chess is over when: 1. One player checkmate's the other player's King, or 2. When there is a stalemate meaning the only move a player has left is one which places his own king in check. 3. When there is a draw by rule, such as where only the Kings remain on the board or if one player has only the King and the other has only the King and a Bishop or Knight. This is because it is impossible for a King and a minor piece alone to checkmate the other king. 4. When there is another draw by if each player makes 50 moves without the capture of a single piece and without the movement of a pawn during those 50 moves. 5. When both players agree to end the game if it seems like it will end in a draw. 6. When one players concedes the game because his position look hopeless. 7. When one player claims a draw if the other player makes the exact same move three consecutive times. This kind of draw must be claimed by the other player, it is not an automatic ending like the other draws.
