The knight will , of course , look like a horse , pawns take on the shape of infantry , the queen will be a female representation , the king will be modeled upon a male figure , the bishops will appear as ministers and the rooks will often look like a castle .

You can refer to any search engine and the search will bring up a wide variety of chess-figure representations .

Most chess sets are modeled upon the Staunton Chess Set and it is universally recognized as the standard model with variations .

Many chess sets are modeled upon themes such as Star Wars and (unbelievably) The Simpsons , etc ...
