So you can run fast and not be tackled. It is also helpful when attempting to tackle others and in order to get to rucks and mauls.

It's really all to do with where you want to go and how fast you want to go there. Agility is nothing without vision of the game. You want to practice such skills in a game of touch Rugby for example before heading for the big game.

beside the body movement when carrying the ball agility is vial in set plays like scrums, lineouts mauls and rucks. Without this players would suffer some pretty painful injuries

The body of a player is moved in to a range of positions when tackled or involved in rucks and mauls. This requires the body to be able to move in to a range of positions to stop damage.
