Why Don't the Chicago Bears have cheerleaders?

No, the Detroit Lions do not have cheerleaders. Mr. Ford does not like the idea of cheerleaders. He prefers to keep the game a family event atmosphere and thinks that cheerleaders would lead to drunken-male atmosphere that will create a lot of fights and destroy his reputation.

Back in the early to mid 1970's while the Lions played in Detroit (Briggs Stadium), they did in fact have cheerleaders - 7 ladies to be exact. We were paid per game and cheered at the home games only, as they did not allow us to travel to the away games. When the Lions moved out of Detroit to the Pontiac, MI Silverdome, the squad was disbanded. There was a time the Detroit Lions did have professional cheerleaders!

the bears dont have cheerleaders because its too cold during football season and soldier field is an outdoor field. That would not be a correct answer. The Chicago Bears did in fact have a Cheerleading team. They were called the Honey Bears. The organization no longer wanted to pay for cheerleaders....that is why we do not have cheerleaders on the sidelines. Nice try with the weather answer though.

The Green Bay Packers have not had "official" cheerleaders since 1988. The cheerleaders that you see at games are from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and St. Norbert College.

The reason given for discontinuing official cheerleaders was fan indifference.

Yes, the "Honey Bears". They first appeared in 1976 but were later let go right before SuperBowl XX for unknown reasons.
