Oregon State University has produced one Heisman Trophy winner: quarterback Terry Baker. The versatile Baker, who also played basketball for the Beavers, was awarded the Heisman for the 1962 season. He also appeared in the 1962-63 NCAA Final Four, making him the only Heisman winner to compete in a basketball championship semifinal.
Only once: Charles Woodson, although he also played a lot of special teams.Interestingly, he beat out Peyton Manning, who had been thought to be a very strong Heisman candidate.
The Heisman trophy is currently displayed in the Old Red Courthouse Museum in downtown Dallas, Texas. Each college also receives a replica.
John Heisman attended Brown University, where he played football and graduated in 1894. He also studied at the University of Pennsylvania, but his time at Brown is most notable in relation to his educational background. Heisman went on to become a prominent football coach and is best known for the Heisman Trophy, awarded to the most outstanding player in college football.
Canton, Ohio, is home to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but it is not directly associated with the Heisman Trophy, which is awarded to the most outstanding player in college football. However, several Heisman winners have strong ties to Ohio, including legendary players like Archie Griffin, who is the only two-time winner. While the Heisman Trophy itself isn't awarded in Canton, the Hall of Fame celebrates the legacy of football and its top players, many of whom have also received the Heisman.
I can only name one and that's Nick Saban. 1st with LSU and 2nd with Alabama!
The last pure wide receiver to win the Heisman Trophy was Desmond Howard of the University of Michigan in 1991. But Charles Woodson, the 1997 winner who also played at Michigan, was a cornerback and punt returner who occasionally lined up on offense as a receiver.
The University of Minnesota's only Heisman Trophy winner was halfback Bruce Smith, who received the honor in 1941. He was a key player in the Gophers' bacl-to-back national championships in 1940 and 1941. Smith is one of 13 Heisman winners who also played on a national championship team the same season.
Charlie Ward, who also won the Heisman Trophy in 1993.
As of the 2007 season, four Heisman Trophy winners have also been named Super Bowl MVP: Roger Staubach: 1963 Heisman, Super Bowl VI MVP Jim Plunkett: 1970 Heisman, Super Bowl XV MVP Marcus Allen: 1981 Heisman, Super Bowl XVIII MVP Desmond Howard: 1991 Heisman, Super Bowl XXXI MVP
