Through Super Bowl XLIV:
1) Paul Hornung (1956 - Notre Dame) - Super Bowl I with the Green Bay Packers.
2) Roger Staubach (1963 - Navy) - Super Bowls VI and XII with the Dallas Cowboys.
3) Mike Garrett (1965 - USC) - Super Bowl IV with the Kansas City Chiefs.
4) Jim Plunkett (1970 - Stanford) - Super Bowls XV and XVIII with the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders.
5) Tony Dorsett (1976 - Pittsburgh) - Super Bowl XII with the Dallas Cowboys.
6) George Rogers (1980 - South Carolina) - Super Bowl XXII with the Washington Redskins.
7) Marcus Allen (1981 - USC) - Super Bowl XVIII with the Los Angeles Raiders.
8) Desmond Howard (1991 - Michigan) - Super Bowl XXXI with the Green Bay Packers.
9) Reggie Bush (2005 - USC) - Super Bowl XLIV with the New Orleans Saints (Heisman Trophy later forfeited).
Tony Dorsett is the first player in football's history to have ever won the Heisman Trophy, an NCAA National Championship, and a Superbowl ring. Interestingly enough, he won the Heisman and National Championship as a senior at Pitt in 1976, and the Superbowl the very next year as a rookie for the Dallas Cowboys.
Two other Heisman Trophy/National Championship winners have appeared in the Superbowl, but lost.
Charles Woodson won the Heisman and a National Championship at Michigan in 1997, and appeared in Superbowl 37 as a starting cornerback for the Oakland Raiders, but lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Matt Leinart won the Heisman and a National Championship at USC in 2004, and appeared as the backup quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals in Superbowl 43, who lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Reggie Bush has become the second player in football's history to have won an NCAA National Championship ring (2004 USC), Heisman Trophy (2005) and a SuperBowl ring (New Orleans Saints 2010).
Quarterback Roger Staubach, who won the Heisman Trophy as a junior at Navy in 1963, was named Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl VI. He led the Dallas Cowboys to a 24-3 victory over the Miami Dolphins at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans.
There are several Heisman Trophy winning running backs who have played in a Super Bowl (or two). They are:
Billy Cannon, halfback LSU, Heisman Trophy winner 1959; played in Super Bowl II as a member of the Oakland Raiders. Cannon won the Heisman Trophy as a halfback but played Tight End for the Raiders.
Mike Garrett, halfback USC, Heisman Trophy winner 1965; played in Super Bowl I and Super Bowl IV for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Archie Griffin, running back Ohio State, two time Heisman Trophy winner 1974 and 1975; played in Super Bowl XVI for the Cincinnati Bengals.
