The Phillies first year in the National League was 1883. From 1883-1889, the team was known as the Quakers. In 1890, the name was changed to Phillies and stayed that waykjukj,m,m,m,m,,nmntil 1944 when the team went by thebjhjhjmnc nickname of Blue Jays. That lasted two years and in 1946 the namhjhgjhje was changed back to Phillies where it has cbnbnstayed ever since.

The Phillies were origanily named the same thing they are today but there was a span were they were the Philadelphia Quakers in the late 1890s because they played at the Univerity of Pennsylvania and Penns nickname was the Quakers and in the 1950s Mr.Carpender the Phightins owener held a fan contest and the winning name was the Philadelphia Bluejays
