You should eat rice crispie cereal. It is supposed to help you not get cramps when you are running and give you can extra boost of energy. Pasta is also very good because of the carbs. You shouldn't eat too soon before a game. You should have at least an hour before the work out or match. You want the foods, mostly carbs, pasta and the like to be well into the digestion process before calling on the body to exert itself. I avoid acidic foods before exertion, tomato sauce is a big no-no for me until after a match.

well i play alot of soccer, and i would say that water instead of Gatorade helps me,

Bananas definitely help, and you can eat as usual as long as you have smaller portions of it and it isn't solid grease food,

one of the best games i played in was after eating a cheese sandwich, i guess it just depends on your body, but a peanut butter spoon right before a game is really good also, because of the protein in it,
