What is the role of each player in a basketball team?

the two people in the front of the court on defense or on offense is called a quard the person who brins the ball down on offense is called the point guard the two people playing down low are called forwards and usually the tallest person on the court plays in the center which is called the center in defense and offense

There is really only three roles in Basketball. These roles are; Guard, Forwward, and Center. If you break it down more there is Point Guards, Shooting Guards, Small Forwards, and Power Forwards. However, you mainly hear about Guard, Forward, and Center.

Point Guard: He must have great basketball sense. I mean, he must be fundamentally sound. He must know the basics of basketball: shooting, passing, dribbling..... I think a great point guard must be a pass-first-shoot-last type of guy, the unselfish one. He must know the tendencies of his teammates, & know their strengths & weaknesses of each player. He must have the stamina, coz he has the ball 80% of the time.point guard: Of course, he must shoot! He must be a decent three-point shooter, good jump shooter, & an excellent free-throw shooter. He must have court awareness too (like during waning seconds, he must shoot it!)SmallForward: I think, a small forward must be a decent shooter & a good defender. He must have the hand of defending the best guys of other teams, no matter what the size. He must be capable of playing the Forward slot. & a great SF can be a great PF too. He must be a decent rebounder too.PowerForward: This man must be a great rebounder, & has a nose for the ball. He must be good defensively too, since he'll be on the other PFs noses too. I think he must also be capable of being a SF too for them to counter mismatches. I think he must have decent free throw shooting skills. He must be a physical player, & not back down on physical play.Center: I think height is might here! He must be the tireless player too, he must run both on offense & defense too. He must know the ways of the rebound best & must have great court presence. He should be a decent free throw shooter. Of course, he must be physical.
