Construction is basically the same - softball gloves are just larger than Baseball gloves due to fact that softballs are bigger. Softball gloves tend to be 13" and bigger, and baseball gloves are less than 13".
If you play both softball and baseball and want to stick with just one glove, then buy a softball glove.

each mitt is designed for that particular sport. the major difference is the size of the pocket (surface area of anterior exterior portion aka. palm, fingers, & web), a baseball pocket tends to be much smaller than a softball pocket. with in each sport depending on the position played the mitt can very dramatically.

baseball mitts are larger than a normal sized softball mitt
yes as they are ver similar
inches
You could technically, but a softball would not fit in a baseball glove. The slit in a baseball glove is a lot smaller than the opening in a softball catcher's mitt. It would be very hard to actually catch the ball with a baseball catcher's mitt

no, they can not, but some umpires will not notice.
The pressure exerted by the softball on the mitt can be calculated using the formula Pressure = Force/Area. Plugging in the values, we get Pressure = 175N / 0.002m^2 = 87,500 Pa. Thus, the pressure exerted by the softball on the mitt is 87,500 Pascal.
i never used an oven to break in my mitt but a very good way is to oil your glove (you can buy glove oil at almost any sporting goods store), put a softball in the web, rubberband it, stick it under your matress as you sleep. this will not work by just the first time, i did it to my glove about 3 times and i already felt a difference as i played.
Baseball because a mitt is a baseball equiptment and his first name is mitt.
A baseball mitt is another name for a baseball glove - a protective glove used when playing baseball.
