Better control of the bore of your barrel can help accuracy and consistency. You will also make your marker more efficient and be able to get more shots out of the same size tank. Typically you find a barrel size based on the size of the paint you shoot most often. Barrel kits come with multiple sizes to allow you to change the size of the bore on a case by case basis.

.68 of an inch, but the diameter of paintballs is dependent on how well they are made. Higher quality balls generally will be closer to the theoretical diameter of a paintball. To test if a paintball fits well, place it in your barrel. It should be easily blown out using your mouth, but not roll around in the barrel, nor get stuck inside.
