After a ball has been passed up and set to a hitter, the hitter spikes the ball to the other side. Therefore, a spike is another term for a hit from the hitter.
To spike in volleyball you need to have the right clothes and shoes. Now when the ball is set you need to start your approach when the ball is starting to come down (for right handed hitters do left foot right foot left foot and for left handed hitters do right left right.) Speed up your approach or slow it down depending on how fast or slow the ball is going. When you actually hit the ball you should hit the ball between the middle and top part to put spin on it so it goes down and it's harder to pass. After your done hitting it you need to follow through and land on the balls of your feet. As soon as you land you need to be ready for the block if they do block it.
A spike is a direct hit from a hitter on the other team.

When you spike a ball you jump up and "spike" it by hitting it VERY hard causing it to IN FRONT of the FIRST person in front of you!!
A spike is when a player smacks the volleyball down onto the other side of the court. The ball must be inbounds and cannot touch the net or the opponent in order to be a spike.
When someone sets up the ball and you quickly jump up and hit the ball as hard as you can
Spiking's just jumping into the air and hitting the ball downwards into your opponent's side of the court, which hopefully wins the point.
When you slam the ball over the net on the other team aggressively. Similar to a slam dunk in Basketball really.
