They are part of the original franchise of the Boston Red Stockings (1871-1876) Their name Boston Braves, was changed to the Boston Bees in 1936, and back to the Braves in 1941. From 1876-1882 the team name was the Boston Red Caps, and from 1883 -1906 the Boston Beaneaters. From 1907 -1910 the franchise was called the Boston Doves, in 1911 they were called the Boston Rustlers, before the name was change to Braves in 1912.
