When you know its abojt to over home plate and the batter is about to take a big swing and lookin at the ball all the way to the bat
A pitched ball can hit the ground before crossing home-plate. In most cases the batter would not swing and the pitch would be called a ball. But, if the batter decides the swing, the ball is still in play after hitting the ground and the batter may not hit the ball and receive a strike, or he may foul the ball, or hit a base-hit.
Well No, but remember if he swings its a strike The pitch is legal but it cannot be called a strike unless the batter swings and misses or hits the ball foul. The batter may swing at a ball that hits the ground before home plate and if he hits it fair play goes on. In other words, if a batter were to hit a home run on a pitched ball that hit the ground before home plate, it would be ruled a home run.
Absolutely.
If the batter attempts to hit the ball and misses, it is a strike. If the batter does not attempt to hit the ball and the ball enters the strike zone, it is a strike. If the batter does not attempt to hit the ball and the ball does not enter the strike zone, it is a ball (unless it hits the batter, then the batter is awarded 1st base).
It is a dead ball and the batter is awarded first base and is ruled a hit by pitch
I believe, since home plate is in fair territory, the ball would be fair and the batter would be called out for making contact with a live, fair ball. The equivelent to runner interference with the ball on the base paths. ---------- The question is unclear. If a pitched ball hits home plate, it can then be hit by the batter (former Astros player, Enos Cabell, comes to mind). However, if the batter hits the pitch, and the ball then hits the plate and bounces up into the air, and the batter then hits it a second time, he's out. The rule says if the bat hits a batted ball a second time, the batter is out, which is different the the ball hitting the bat a second time.
no the batter gets a home run and its not a out
! You're asking the question: How do you play a baseball game?ANSWERBaseball is a traditional, fun game played in the US and many other countries. The players you will need are, (preferably) 9 batters, a catcher behind the batter, a pitcher, a first baseman, a second baseman, a third baseman, a short stop, a left field, a left center, a center fielder, and a right field player, which adds up to 10 players on the field. One batter should go up to home plate with a helmet and bat and the pitcher will either slow pitch, fast pitch or however which way you want to pitch the ball to the batter. Hopefully, the batter will hit it. If the batter does not hit it but swings, it is a strike. Three strikes and the next batter is up and you're OUT. However, there are ways to go to first base and not even touch the ball. If the pitcher throws unruly pitches that are not good to hit, do not swing at all. If they are above your head, DON'T SWING. If they are below your waist, DON'T SWING. If they are behind you or out in the left batter's box, it would be a good idea to not swing. If you don't swing for four pitches that have been pretty bad pitches, then, you have four balls. Four balls means you have to "walk" to your first base. If the batter hits the ball, the players in the field have a chance of getting the batter out. If a field player catches the ball without it touching the ground, then it's an out. If a player gets the ball and it already touched ground, it still has a chance to get the runner out. Say left center gets the ball when it already touched the ground, left center should throw it to the nearest base (second base). If the second baseman catches the ball without it touching the ground and the batter hasn't reached that base yet, the runner is out. The same plan continues until you get a home run or the game is over. Home runs are where a batter hits the ball so far out of the field, it can run all three bases and reach home, and receive a point for their team. The game should have only 2 teams playing against each other. The object is to get every runner on the bases home and score the points! Have fun!
One Answer:Before the hit yes. After no. the home plate is in fair territory between the batters box and first base so it is often stepped on, however the batter must hit the ball while inside the batters box. Correct Answer:There is no rule in MLB prohibiting a batter from stepping on home plate.
basically as i was told by my qld coach, a home run is an accident, its the resuly of a good swing. you don't purposely swing to hit it over, you swing hard and smooth and the ball will go far so basically its an accident
Faster swing, because the muscle behinde it that will send the ball over fence.
