Hi I am not sure if you mean personally or as a team or ...? From the team approach, it has been said that "hockey is the most collaborative of sports". Meaning that - more than any other sport- a team that cooperates can beat a more skilled opponent that is not playing as a team.

But if you mean personally, in the middle of a game - it is all about effort. Effort beats skill. Effort beats size. Effort beats experience, luck, team politics, and bad officiating.
