Topspin is a favorite of tennis professionals, especially Andy Roddick. Topspin makes the ball look like it is going fly far long when it drops back in. Plus, it has a super high bounce that can drive your opponent behind the baseline. Topspin is considered a high percentage shot perfect for a rally. You should use a grip that is between an Eastern and semi-Western grip. The main motion you do to create topspin is to brush up the back of the ball. Rotate your shoulders and begin with the racquet between shoulder and eye level. Loop the backswing around like you were looping over a large ball. Speed up your swing until you brush up the back of the ball. Pretend that the ball has a clock face on it. Brush the racquet upwards from 6 o

The most basic way to hit a topspin shot off the forehand in tennis are these following steps: 1. Get in ready position, which is: both hands on the racket facing forward 2. Turn side ways as the ball approaches and slowly let your left hand drop away from the racket 3. Have your racket facing straight back (as if it were a mirror and you were trying to see the back of your head) have your racket extended back at shoulder height. 4. Bend your knees and smoothly swing your racket down to the ground 5. Then pull it up as you receive contact, with your arm once again straight out. 6. Slightly turn your wrist to go over the top of the ball, then follow through across your left shoulder. Tips: Be sure that your are always going forward and stepping into the shot. Never step away like off to the side, because that takes away your power. Remember that your not going to get enough power by just using your arm: bend your knees then step through. You can tell when your not getting topspin because the ball will usually spin sideways when it's not correctly hit. Topspin is the keyword in this shot because it literally is going over the top of the ball.

To hit a tennis ball with topspin, at the point of contact with the racquet being perpendicular to the ground, twist your wrist so the face of the racquet with the point of contact with the ball turns towards the ground.

You must do this while you are swinging at the ball. Follow through with the ball, which means do not stop as soon as you hit the tennis ball and twist your wrist, but rather let the momentum let you take the racquet more forward after contact with the tennis ball has ceased.

The best way to generate topspin is the "high-to-low" concept, by starting with your racquet low and ending up higher.

There are a wide variety of techniques used in the taking of free kicks, which depend as much on the game situation as much as personal preference.

The Laws of the Game - Law 13 dictates the position of the Free Kick and how it is to be taken. The ball is placed on the ground at or near the spot of the foul (depending on where the foul occurred). Opponents must retreat to at least 10 yards from the ball. The kicker then kicks the ball so that it moves (the amount of ball movement is not important, as long as it moves "from one place to another place" in the opinion of the referee). The kicker then may not touch the ball again until it has touched another player (teammate or opponent).

Indirect Free Kick - The IFK may not result in a goal unless and until it has touched another player (teammate or opponent). For that reason, it is rarely kicked directly at the goal. Instead, it is usually either passed to a teammate, or is kicked directly at an opponent in hopes for a rebound. Another common tactic is to kick the ball just enough so that it moves, and a nearby teammate will attempt to score from it.

Direct Free Kick - The DFK may result in a goal with or without touching another player. Most DFKs are kicked directly at the goal if the spot is near it, or just played forward otherwise. Often, the defenders will form a "wall" to help block shots on goal, so other tactics may be prudent.

When returning a topspin you should send it back with a nice back spin. this will cause the spin speed to double and when the ball hits the table it will come back towards you.

the way you return a topspin shot is to make sure that you take the ball as early as possible. Usually just as its about to rise.

Keep your foot straight, and when you make contact be in an upward motion.

You must hit on the top of the ball at the highest point of the bounce.
