The slowest pitch in softball is the change-up. It is used to batter swing off-balanced. Off-balanced batters tend to hit more pop-fly's than balanced batters. Pop-flys are considered the easiest out in softball.

To be a decent softball pitcher it could take 3-4 years to pitch a softball. Fastpitch that is. The ball is bigger and weighs more than a baseball. The wind up is tricky. Most pitchers that I know have to practice their pitching around 3 to 4 days a week.

as far as I know you could. In our leagues, you are allowed to switch sides of the plate as long as you dont walk right in front of the catcher while the pitcher is ready to pitch. Essentially you have to call for time. I love switching it up, keeps the fielders on their toes.... The best is when you switch sides, but hit op field :D

Softball is a derivative of baseball, so it helps if you've played that sport. Slow pitch softball is far easier for a beginner than fast pitch, both from hitting and defensive perspectives. If you're a novice to softball, the easiest positions to play are on the right side of the field: first base, second base and right field. If you're an inexperienced player, avoid playing the left side of the infield where balls tend to come on the fielder faster and more often. Also avoid pitching.
