A player can get 2 yellow cards which = a red card and also get a straight red card. Also a player can get a yellow card but then without getting a 2nd yellow card the player can recieve a straight rad card
For the same reasons any other player would get a red card.
A red card is shown to a player to indicate they are being sent-off. A sent-off player may not be substituted for.
A yellow card is a warning, two yellows make a red, a player is sent off when shown a red card. They can also get a straight red for a serious offence.
Depending on the level of the foul or bad behavior (taking someone out by purposely harming them), a player may receive a yellow or a red card. The red card is more serious.

The player shown the red card must leave the game. Unless play has not yet started (yes, players can be shown the red card even before the beginning of the game), that player cannot be replaced, meaning the team will have fewer players than their opponents for the rest of the game.
If a club believes their player was incorrectly shown a straight red card, they can appeal the decision.
Yellow and red. Yellow cards are cautions, and if a player gets two in one match, the player is shown a red card. The red card automatically and permanently ejects the player from the match. A red card can be awarded without the referee ever showing a yellow if the foul is severe enough.
Yes. A yellow or red card can be issued to an injured player who is on the ground. It is not considered best practice due to the imagery.
A referee will issue a 'Red Card' for a serious offence in football, or if the player has already been shown a yellow card for a previous foul in the game. Two yellow are automatically red carded. A red card results in the player leaving the pitch, and no substitution is allowed. So the team plays on with one man down. There have been cases when an over excited manager, arguing with the referee, has been shown a red card, and has been sent to sit in the terraces, away from the dugout.
