Pittsburgh pirates 19 seasons
The best team in the world had 19 wins spanning four consecutive Stanley Cup titles and five playoff seasons. This is a record for all North American professional sports franchises.
The record belongs "officially" to the 2003-2004 New England Patriots with 21... including playoffs making them the most consecutive. Indy Colts 2008-2009 had 23 regular season wins. The previous poster said the New England record included pre-season games. In fact neither teams records include preseason games. Both lost preseason games during the "streaks." The difference being that the Patriots record is considered the "official NFL record" because it includes playoffs games.
George Stienbrenner of the Yankees
There have been 88 winning seasons in which 8 games or more were played during that season (1908-2007). Overall, there have been 93 winning seasons (1892-2007). As of the end of the 2007 season, The University of Alabama had 29 seasons in which they won 10 or more games. There have been 16 seasons winning 10 games, 10 seasons winning 11 games, 2 seasons winning 12 games, and 1 season winning 13 games. However, because of the participation of a player later determined to be ineligible by the NCAA for having contact with a sports agent, the University of Alabama forfeited 10 games from the 1993 season. Officially, there have been only 28 seasons of 10 wins or more. The University of Alabama's winning percentage is 0.70673.
