Longboard Skateboarding is form of Surfing and Snowboarding combined. With the fast flow and rhythm of surfing and the hard griding surface of pavement and carving turns of snowboarding. To ride one, you must combine these two with you confidence to succeed. Once all three are combined, put both feet facing perpendicular to the longboard... maybe angled a little foreward for comfort. Face down the hill and begin the roll. Now, moving at a rapidly accelerating speed, start leaning to one side putting emphasis on the front foot, either the toes or the heel depending on the side you are turning to. then coming to one side of the street switch the weight to the heel or toe,(the side opposite of the one you were on) use this technique to carve the whole width of the street. If you start gaining too much speed deepen your turns and make them sharper by putting more weight to the side ure turning.

1: Find out if you are goofy or regular, find this out by simply jumping forward and turning 90 degrees, (you don't have to jump on the board as it will probably shoot out from under you, just do it on the ground.) if your right foot is on the front your goofy if your left foots forward, your regular.
2: Find a rail to hold onto and start pushing yourself along with your hands on the rail, this will help you find the center of gravity you need.
3: Have someone walk beside you while you attempt to push with your feet. You want to have your front foot pretty much on the front bolts while the back one pushes. Start off by doing one push then get on the board. Keep on repeating until your confident. Next try two pushes without having your pushing foot stand on the board. This may be a bit shakey to begin with because the momentum on your leg going forward might mess up your balance. Next try 3 pushes, then four, then five etc PS. DO NOT PUSH WITH YOUR FRONT FOOT, THIS IS KNOWN AS MONGO AND YOU LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT, NO-ONE LIKES THE LOOK OF IT AND WHEN YOU EVENTUALLY START DOING TRICKS IT WILL SLOW YOU DOWN FROM SETTING UP FOR THEM.)
Long boards are just as easy or even easier than riding a skateboard. Some people even first learn to ride on a long board before they start using a regular skateboard.
