What is the difference between classical ballet and lyrical?

Classical Ballet is extremely different to the lyrical. A lyrical is just a slow modern jazz with some ballet steps and feel to it. I do ballet, tap and jazz and have been for 10 yrs, I love the lyrical routines because you get to move, be free and feel the music. Whilst in ballet you do still have to be free and feel the music, your body appears flowing on the outside while everything is locked on the inside. Also, you don't roll around on the floor in ballet.

Is ballet a girls sport?

No, it is not. But many people feel that because now it is ushelly girls who join. It used to be in russia that only guys would join, there would be few girls. It was also the two greatest honor was for your kid to be- in the Russian army, or- to be in Russian ballet. It's legit. plus, it takes alot of strenght and endurance. Many girls are scared away by that fact after the try it. Also, many football players do it to build up their muscles because they take the same muscles. And I would just like to pointe out- ballet is tecnically not a sport. It's harder. :)

What is the difference between hip hop dance and ballet?

Ballet is very complex and ordered whereas hip hop is a lot more free style. For ballet each move is very specific and each has a French name. Every movement the dancer makes is meant to be exactly the same as a dancer would do it somewhere else, and your movements should be tightly flowing, with feet pointed and muscles pulled in. the movements should always put some sort of stress on the muscles as a form of excercising, so even simple turns and piruetes can fatigue the dancer after a long period of time. ballet music has a very distinct classical feel and can be slow or fast. however, in hip hop there are sometimes more than one name for a step and the varieities of that step can change from classroom to classroom. theyre usually all names like "dolphin" or "jumping over the barell," not at all the consistency heard in ballet terms. The movements show freedom of expression, and the shoes used are much different than ballet shoes. the music is usually much more bouncy and can be just the normal music you listen to everyday.

How does ballet affect you?

It has affected my overall dancing of having a much much better posture and a little bit more grace with my arms. Holding your center, turning out, and pointing can make you sore but if you stretch and practice using those muscles a lot it will start to feel natural to you.

You may, particularly if it's large or has been in for a while. If you feel discomfort when sque3ezing your muscles, the tampon probably isn't in far enough.

Why can ballet be stressful?

Ballet might be stressful for you because you are trying to get it too perfect. While it is important to not look sloppy it should not cause stress. Next time you feel tension at ballet class get into the right form and then just relax. Your dancing will look much better when you relax anyway.

Why can't you speak in ballet?

Ballet is about emotion telling someone how you feel in dance, if you can give emotion by dancing you've mastered the dance.
