The age most Ballet dancers should start pointe danceing is from 11 to 13 years old.
If you start pointe too young, you could break your foot
It also depends on how well your ankle support is. If you don't have good ankle support you could break your foot easily.
I had a question about the answer on the top. I am 11 years old and i have had ballet experience since I was 3 years old. I went to 7 ballet schools they all had mixed opinions. 5 of the schools said I should start pointe at 15 and 2 of the schools said I should start pointe at 12. And my old ballet school said that I should start pointe at 11. What do you think?? Thank you! :)
You shouldn't be any younger than 11 because the bones in you feet haven't matured enough but how good you will vary on how strong, felixable and graceful you are. You have to be able to go on demi pointe for forty five seconds. So i guess when you can do that. You have to be strong in your ankles, back and legs.
I hope this helped!
Also, each teacher is different. Some may have harder or easy classes some may be more willing. dance is skill, not age. My instructor is very tough and does not want to put you on pointe until you take two ballet classes and practically live at the studio, it is a huge comittmant and you can start training by not getting any pedicures at all!!! You have to keep all of your calluses to make your feet strong. Always be working your feet, at school home anywhere. You have a boring class? I started a habit, I pointe and flex my feet a bunch! When im standing, I go on releve' Keep working hard!!!!There is not a certain age. It is not how old you are, it is if you are capable of doing it. Some people start when they are adults, famous dancer Cynthia Gregory started when she was six. Different ballet studios have different requirements for doing pointe work. But when your ankles and feet are strong, your teacher will notify you when you are ready.
It is said the best age to start pointe dancing is 12because your feet have developed a certain way. That's how old I have always learned. Of course, its fine to start older and younger if you are really good and ready.
P.S. If you start to early, you tonails can come off and it may hurt your toes more than usual
the most common age to go on pointe is between 10 and 12 years but probably shouldn't start till 12
Best answer:People recommend 12 years of age however it is actually down to the physical state e.g. technique , turnout etc. In ballet companies girls start at the young age of ten but these are trained girls that go ballet class 3 or more times a week.
The age for pointe is between 11-14. Teachers wait to put students up "en pointe" until the growth plates in their ankles have finished growing, or closed. This way, they are not prone to injury. Each dancer is different, and there are many different factors that come into play: the arch of the foot, ankle flexibility and ankle strength. A teacher should evaluate you before you go en pointe.
If your dance teacher has told you to get pointe shoes, then you should go en pointe when you are supervised to start with. If you havn't been told to get pointes then i would not recommend it as you could hurt your feet/ankles.
Your teacher should be able to tell you whether or not you have the skill and strength to start pointe. Pointe-work is very difficult on your ankles, feet and legs, so you must be fully developed (ie. though most of puberty) to begin pointe, or else you may seriously injure yourself. The bottom line is, your teacher, if she has any experience at all, should be able to tell you whether or not you are physically ready to begin pointe
In RAD, you start wearing pointe shoes in Intermediate Foundation.
It can vary depending on where you live, how your grading system works and which dance school you go to. Mainly, you start pointe-work at grade 5 and carry on through grade 6, plus any more grades after that if you are still dancing.
You are usually dancing for about 4-5 years before you start pointe work but the common age is about 13-14 Hope this helps!
It depends on how long you have been dancing for, but usaly your teacher will start you en pointe at the age of 11+ as this is when the bones in the feet are strong enough to not be manipulated by the shoes. If you start too early the bones are too soft and you can end up crippled for life.
No.Your supposed to take ballet for a couple of years. Pointe requires a lot of strength in the toes, feet, and legs. If you were to just put on pointe shoes and start dancing, you would have the risk of injuring yourself greatly. But if you have ballet experience, then pointe would be okay to try.

All pointe shoes hurt, for some poeple, there first pair hurts the least for others it hurts the most. But when you first get pointe shoes you dont do much dancing on them, so it wont hurt as much. but it probably hurts more than you would expect.

Your weight has nothing to do with pointe shoes. And frankly, it's not up to you whether or not to begin on pointe. It's up to your teacher to determine whether or not you're strong enough.
Pointe shoes started as a sort of circus act or a stunt. Though no one knows exactly who the first ballerina to go on pointe was, most people say it is Marie Taglioli. The first pointe shoes weren't like ours today, however. They were soft and had very little padding in them.
If you care for your feet and build the muscles in your feet (by doing dyna band exercises) before starting pointe you should not have a problem. However if your start pointe when you are still young it can hurt your feet. Typically pointe shoes can be worn starting around age 12.
in the beginning, yes, your feet will hurt, but once you have broken in your pointe shoes they will start feeling like a second skin, and you will be able to practice and do pointe exercises more fluently and more easily.
