Ballerinas in the Royal Ballet go through a significant number of ballet shoes annually, with estimates suggesting that each dancer uses around 100 pairs per year. Given that the company has approximately 80 dancers, this could total around 8,000 pairs of ballet shoes consumed each year. The high wear and tear result from the rigorous demands of daily rehearsals and performances.
they go through a lot! I used to do ballet and I always had to have back-ups just in case they would be worn out or start hurting my feet. my guess is definitely probably a little over 15 pairs in a year.

To make ballet flats my way this is what you will need: A pair of tough (preferably thick) socks Scissors Two long ribbons 1.) Draw a picture of what they will look like on a piece of paper. 2.)After you have drawn the design, make a light line for the top of your ballet flats to cut. 3.)Cut the line you just made, leave a space on both of the sides on the top. 4.)On the sides, cut slits to lace the ribbon through. 5.)Lace the ribbon through by crossing it like an x. 6.) Try on the ballet flats. (If they do not fit correctly, you may have to start over.) These ballet flats are not too expensive to make. I wouldn't use these for any performance or competition. These are used for practice at home or just for fun!! I really hope this helps because I have made several pairs of these and they look real.
